David Ortiz Sells Mercedes On Ebay
Big time Red Sox player, David Ortiz is putting his 2005 Mercedes SL65 AMG Convertible for sale on Ebay. Ortiz bought the vehicle for $240,000 in 2004 after winning the world series.
The special features on the vehicle include an interior panel embossed with a baseball diamond and the initials D and O and twenty-inch chrome wheels inscribed with the black letter D against a red background. The price started at $169,000 and as of yesterday it rose to a whopping $465,500. The retail price is only $182,820.
“I love that car, but I’m going to buy another one,” Ortiz told The Boston Globe in Wednesday’s edition. With a garage full of exotic cars, Ortiz placed the convertible on eBay last week. Tens of thousands of people have ogled the car online, but few have placed bids in an auction scheduled to end tomorrow. Once the car sells, Ortiz may buy another, higher-end vehicle, if he has something to celebrate this fall. “After we win the World Series this year,” Ortiz said.
The lucky winner will not only be getting a one of a kind vehicle, but will also be able to get the chance to meet David Ortiz when he delivers the vehicle personally.
