Corvette Fighting Fires

Firefighter Next To Chevy CorvetteHere we have shown you cops who drive some of the most amazing supercars on the road. Supercars that are great for high chase pursuits and catching all the bad guys. Now we get a chance to show you another one of our great service men driving in something amazing. This time it is the Corvette that is being used as the car of choice.

Dubai is fast gaining a reputation as the “Vegas of the Middle East” because of its impressive rate of development and sometimes crazy amounts of money thrown at government projects. This time, the city’s Civil Defence department has acquired a Corvette to help fight fires by being able to attend to them more quickly than ordinary vehicles. Brigadier Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director of Dubai Civil Defence goes on to explain that due to the Corvette’s speed, the car can get vital rescue equipment to the scene of the fire, and in the case of people being trapped in cars, can help remove them.

He said the car is a small, light and fast car which can beat traffic and contains highly-effective firefighting and prevention systems in addition to rescue equipment in cases where people are trapped in cars. Equipment in the car includes a portable fire extinguisher, hydraulic equipment, firefighting equipment and first aid equipment.

The main reason for using the Corvette is how long it takes to get to fires from the station. Whatever the reason we are excited to see more and more supercars making their way to helping people and not just entertaining them.
