2008 Pontiac Solstice On Its Way
The Pontiac Solstice is an desired vehicle among many people. It has the perfect combination of power and a comfortable ride. Many people don’t like vehicles just for their power. While power is a seductive quality it isn’t enough if the ride in uncomfortable.
We can expect to get a hard-top version of the Solstice sometime in 2008 as a 2009 model, complete with a revised powerplant that will boost output, although there was no mention of changes to the GXP. Pontiac will stick with the in-line for the time being, as a V6 variant is officially off the table, and by 2011 it’s assumed that new sheetmetal will adorn the Pontiac and possibly its Saturn-badged brother.
The fact that the Solstice will not be a convertible may dissapoint some of us, but there are many advantages to having a conventional roof. Including possible improvements in aerodynamics and the shaving of several pounds (no need for heavy structural supports and roof retracting motors). The new hardtop Pontiac Solstice will likely come with a few performance upgrades as well, which should also be transplanted into the convertible.
That doesn’t mean that the convertible Solstice will never be made. Eventually every good sports car is turned into one. You just have to wait for the new and advanced features to come along with it.
