2007 Mustang Is Better Than Ever

2007 Ford MustangThe Ford Mustang is one of the very few Mustangs that will always be respected. There was some controversy over the slight makeover that it was given a couple years back. But people have grown to like it and see that the retro style look it was given was something that made it more of an American muscle car than before.

Another year has come and another Mustang has been made. The 2007 Mustang is available with either a 210-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6 or a pavement-pounding, 300-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8. Both engines are paired with a standard five-speed manual transmission or an available five-speed automatic. The V-8 provides excellent acceleration. It’s easy to break the rear tires loose for an occasional smoky burnout. On the downside, though, things can get dicey driving the rear-drive Mustang around on slippery pavement.

The five-speed manual gearbox in our Mustang GT tester isn’t as friendly as the six-speed manual gearbox in the Shelby GT 500. The five-speed gearbox can be difficult to shift into third gear at times. For a rear-drive sports car that employs a solid rear axle, the Mustang is surprisingly agile and fun to drive. The car feels solid and well-built.

Helping Mustang be more enjoyable to drive is a spacious interior with plenty of leg and headroom for taller folks. Mustang’s two rear seats are more comfortable than previous models. Mustang owners can mix and match lighting at the touch of a button to create more than 125 different color backgrounds to suit their personality, mood, outfit or whim.

The 2007 Ford Mustang comes in five trim levels: V-6 Standard, V-6 Deluxe, V-6 Premium, GT Deluxe and GT Premium. Standard equipment on the V-6 Standard includes keyless entry, 16-inch wheels, air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, a CD player and an auxiliary input jack. Optional in both the Mustang V-6 Deluxe and the GT Deluxe, and standard in both the V-6 Premium and GT Premium models is an enjoyable 500-watt Shaker Audio System featuring eight speakers and a six-disc CD changer.

The Shaker 500 is a great addition to the Mustang, but for those wanting more audio power, Ford offers an optional 1,000-watt Shaker Audio System that includes 10 premium audiophile speakers with four subwoofers, two door-mounted and dual 500-watt thumpers in the trunk. For 2007, the Mustang now offers a new GT California Special Package, available everywhere, featuring unique front and rear fascias and GT/CS door stripes.

Also new for 2007 is a new GT appearance package featuring bright rolled exhaust tips, an engine cover with a Pony emblem and a hood scoop. New colors for 2007 include Grabber Orange Clearcoat Metallic and Alloy Clearcoat Metallic. Late in the model year, an optional DVD-based navigation system will be available. Spending time in the Ford Mustang makes it easy to see why it’s so popular. Nearly one out of every two sports cars sold in America is a Mustang.
